With 13 bars and lounges, Carnival Jubilee will have something you’ll love. Drink package, but be aware that, because of Texas law, the package isn’t available until the second ay onboard. The package is pretty inclusive, with really only the most premium drinks not covered. It only operates when the ship isn’t in a port, but when it does operate, it’s packed with people playing the slots or table games.
Carnival Jubilee Activities
While there are so many free and delicious choices available, you certainly do not have to pay extra. Yet, these upcharge venues provide an excellent alternative to the other options throughout the ship. During our cruise, we dined at the two most elegant restaurants.
Inaugural Announced and Carnival Jubilee Opens for Sale
They feature sofa beds that allow the space to accommodate up to four people. There are 175 standard oceanview cabins, located on decks 4 and 5. Carnival Jubilee features 811 standard interior cabins which are 158 square feet each.
Staterooms
Little kids ages 2-5 can take part in a free Zumbini class — a Zumba-style class created just for kids by Zumba and BabyFirst. The 30-minute class features songs, activities, and special instruments all designed to get kids moving. On voyages six days or longer, a family Zumbini class is also available.
What? No Buffet! Or Tablecloths or butter knives
Shaq's Big Chicken, a restaurant backed by basketball great Shaquille O'Neal (who is also Carnival's CFO, chief fun officer), is perfect if you have a hankering for some fried chicken. In addition to chicken strips, sandwiches and fries, the counter-service venue also serves breakfast. Do yourself a favor and try the chicken and biscuit combo with fries. In my experience, waiters were diligent in asking about dietary requirements and restrictions.
Listening to the live music for a bit and chatting with a friend, we called it a night around 11 PM. Today, we had a couple special events lined up for our media group, including a Behind the Scenes tour and a private time for BOLT. We opted for Mexican rice bowls, mine with chicken and Don’s with pork. While I preferred the Asian dishes from dinner last night, Don preferred the Mexican from lunch today. We made plans to get up early this morning to catch up on getting photos and videos around the ship. Given yesterday was busy with the naming ceremony, we didn’t capture as much as we typically do on embarkation day.
There are various challenge levels, including a small zip line, a plank, and even a ropes component off the side of the ship. But if you are looking for lunch-type options, there is steak and eggs, fried chicken, burgers, and more. Select menu items from Emeril’s Bistro are available for an up-charge as well. With nothing on our official agenda until this evening, we took this time to check some final items off our list. Yet, our captain was able to safely get the ship pier-side as did Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas.
A Cooking Class on a Cruise
With so much nightlife on Carnival Jubilee, seeing all the entertainment does take some planning though. For those looking for some group competitions, there were several daytime games as well. Competitions like Identity Crisis, Hog Wild, or Fact or Fiction also ran throughout the day, challenging groups to compete for a prized plastic medallion. In the theater, the What’s Age Got to Do With It was a fun spin on a couples match game. The ship’s deli, Beach Buns, features an expanded selection with hot dogs and fresh sandwiches on the menu. Near the Beach Pool on the Lido deck, Street Eats offers food cart-style snacks during the day.

As a family-focused cruise line, many of these onboard activities were open to cruisers of all ages. The cruise line also offers matinee shows, like PG-rated comedy or even a magic show on busy sea days. Finally, cruisers staying in Havana staterooms have a private Havana pool deck. Complete with a pool, outdoor bar, and additional loungers, this exclusive space is tucked away on Deck 8 forward. However, plenty of loungers on Deck 17 above offer deck space to catch some rays. This is also the liveliest of the pools with poolside games, music, and nighttime parties keeping the energy high.
Not to mention, we enjoyed all of the complimentary outdoor activities, various game shows, comedy shows, and pool deck parties. While we are not the biggest fans of the Playlist Productions when compared to other cruise lines, the shows are high energy and feature a cast of talented singers and dancers. Down on Deck 8 is the Patio pool located in the Summer Landing zone. This fourth pool has a few loungers and is only steps away from nearby bars and restaurants. It is a family-friendly pool area for guests who want a more chill and relaxed sea day experience. On the starboard side, there are two whirlpools offering some great views of the ocean or that day’s port of call.
This new vessel debuted in Galveston in December 2023 from Terminal 25 which underwent an multi-million dollar enhancement project. While sailing a typical Western Caribbean itinerary, this Carnival Jubilee review did have some firsts for us as we had never sailed from this Texas homeport. Carnival Corporation is set to release Q3 financials on Friday, September 29. We expect to hear about the operator’s successful return to service and would be surprised if the call didn’t include a Carnival Jubilee update. While it would have been a dream to sail on Carnival Jubilee’s inaugural voyage, Rocky and I knew we couldn’t make an 18-day cruise fit our work schedules.
A signature outdoor fun facility is the ropes course SkyCourse (length 600 ft / 183 m). SkyCourse is part of the SportSquare (sports complex) with an indoor hangout, mini-bowling, mini-golf course, The Clubhouse, Ping-Pong area with tables, jogging track, interactive sports gaming, arcade basketball. The sisterships Mardi Gras, Celebration and Jubilee have CCL fleet's largest Atriums and open-deck areas. We call Carnival Jubilee™'s onboard burger spot Guy’s Burger Joint™.
All cabins were prefabricated, delivered and installed by the subcontractor EMS PreCab GmbH. Carnival Jubilee's itinerary program is based on year-round Caribbean roundtrips leaving from homeport Galveston (Texas USA). The inaugural cruise season was originally planned to start on October 30, 2023, with an 18-day Transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Texas (call ports Vigo, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Funchal Madeira, Grand Turk). In mid-January 2018, CCL announced 4 new craft beers that will be brewed onboard Carnival Horizon (and on the new XL-class ships/Mardi Gras, Celebration, Jubilee). They are offered at Guy's Pig and Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse (Brewhouse), The names of the new draft beers are inspired by the BBQ offerings at the Smokehouse/Brewhouse.
So, we would subsequently return later in the week for some sports deck fun. We then headed upstairs to the pool deck for another exclusive Carnival Jubilee event, the Lone Star Tailgate. I’m not sure what we were expecting, but it was really just organized poolside games. This event is divided into four quarters with various events taking place. Of course, Carnival cruisers will find many familiar favorites onboard Jubilee as well.
Carnival Jubilee offers the same ride — the third of its kind on a cruise ship — in the deck 18, 19 and 20 Ultimate Playground area. Other venues in the area include the Marina Bar for cocktails and coffee, complimentary Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano and for-fee seafood eatery Rudi's Seagrill, created by food pop artist chef Rudi Sodamin. Grand Central (midship on Decks 6-8) is an expanded Atrium concept combining day-to-night entertainment complex with a bar lounge (overlooking the ship's starboard side) with 3-decks high floor-ceiling windows. The decor is marked by floor-ceiling windows (wall-to-wall), heavy red and green, with gold accents, a colorful dragon (at the entrance). Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse has a specialty restaurant (located in the French Quarter of Deck 6 / portside). Lagasse is the chef and owner of 11 different restaurants, including 4 in New Orleans.
